Shock absorbers for small sondes are special accessories to Vesala’s NanoSonde, MicroSonde and MiniSonde, intended for duct tracing and calibration together with a blowing machine. They considerably decrease risk of sonde damage during jetting by absorbing the excessive energy when the sonde hits an object.

Hence it is recommended to use shock absorbers when possible.

All shock absorbers include a base part with a spring with two threaded fittings. First thread is to mount the base to the sonde, the other for a calibrator head or push rod. The largest shock absorbers also have a sail that helps the sonde travel with the air flow.
A variety of shock absorbers and calibrator heads are available for different sonde models and duct sizes.
The table attached shows all compatible combinations.
It is important to choose the right shock absorber according to the sonde model and duct size, and use the Vesala SC39 Sonde Catcher at the duct end.
Flexible mountings are for attaching sondes to a push rod. Especially at duct corners added flexibility makes sonde traveling smoother and reduces risk of damage.
